why trans men shouldn't be lionized for repeating... →
mattachinereview:
This is a really great piece by Jack Radish about how whenever trans guys speak up about misogyny, we’re lauded as sensitive, clever, and innovative. But actually, we’re just repeating what we hear from trans women in our communities.
I really feel Jack on what he’s talking about in this piece. He articulates the mid-to-late 2000s shift in the trans community from...

It would appear I accidentally outed myself to my...
More specifically, this blog.
I wasn’t ready for this, and I don’t know what to do.
I mean, they technically aren’t right in what they assume I am (more specifically, a binary transguy) from whatever they read, but I don’t know how to explain otherwise because I don’t even know myself. Can’t I just have another few years?

When I tried to explain, the bouncer just said “well you look like a girl to me”.
I was too shocked to say anything else.

[TW] To the people who know me outside a computer:
I am not a girl. I am not a “she”, and nothing that is mine is “hers”. It’s been becoming more and more clear to me that I’m currently in a place surrounded by people who have no respect for how I identify, confusing as it is, and that not one of you can be bothered to try. Misgendering hurts. When you use those pronouns, it directly affects me. It’s...

Halifax Man Upset by New Travel ID Rule - CBC News →
Super awesome guy (who I wish I’d gotten to know better) from back home talks about the impact of the new travel regulations and how they’re affecting the transgender community.
I’ve had issues with airport security before, and studying in the US means I fly back and forth a lot - kind of worried about how this will impact me going home D:

MEN last night was amazing.
Warehouse full of queers screaming “Who am I to feel so free?” at the top of their lungs? I think yes - and I had a great view of JD’s moustache from the front row.
Also got hit on pretty severely by a “flamboyant gay man” (in his own words), so I know I was read as male by at least one person!
Tonight: Coeur de Pirate.

This week has been really queer, in a great way.
Helped Amos Mac out last night shooting House of Ladosha (can’t wait to see how the photos turned out), going to the MEN show in Brooklyn tomorrow, discussed gender variance and Kate Bornstein in class today. If only I wasn’t becoming really sick.
Generally, by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and...

Stephen Ira - "Why I'm not Saying Tr*nny and I'd... →
I think the best way to sum up this fantastic article by writer Stephen Ira is to share with you the first paragraph: ”Trans brothers, dear dear dear men, whom I respect and look up to and adore, allow me to quote noted gender theorist Inigo Montoya:
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

Last night was awesome,
had some great Thai food, saw Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, then went to Public Assembly, realized I’ll never be half as cool as any of the queers dancing in that room, and got a fantastic new sweater.
